Window Treatments, Fun Ways to Tie Back Curtains

Curtain Pullbacks: Have you seen the prices of these things?! The cheapest I can find in local stores is $10/pair, and it's seriously just an ugly piece of bent metal. Oh, you want a cool jewel or coil to go at the end? Well, that'll be another $10! What a racket! This how-to shows you how to make curtain pull backs for pennies on the dollar.

Follow these super easy steps and see how yours turns out!

Materials

Needle nose pliers
Heavy gauge wire (we used wirehangers that we picked up at a garage sale in bulk)
Beads for decoration (this is optional, depending on our your style and what you have lying around)
Washers (for installation)
Screws (for installation)

Steps

You will need enough wire for each panel. If you used the wire hanger idea, you'll need one wire per window panel

1. Cut the straight part of the hanger, or if you're not using hangers, you'll need to cut at least 10 inches of wire. You can clip off extra later, trust me, it's better to have more than less!

2. Bend the cut rods into a U shape *When making the original bends, using somethings that shares a similar desired shape is helpful. I used paint cans to wrap the wire around to help create and maintain the shape. You must realize that the heavier the gauge (or thickness of the wire) the more difficult it is to work with.

3. Using the needle nose pliers, bend one end straight up at a 90 degree right angle to place decorative beads or charms on later (you can also coil it if you know how)

4. Using the needle nose pliers, clamp the other end with the pliers, then wrap the entire wire around once to make a loop that has two circles (this is how you will attach it to the wall

5. Now that everything is bent into shape, add the decorative beading, or coil, or other design. Make sure that you crimp, glue, or otherwise secure the beads, or they'll go everywhere!

6. Attach to the wall with washers and screws. Place the pull back against the wall (way sure you have it facing the right way or else it won't work correctly, for some reason this was the hardest part for me!), then the washers, then screw it all into the wall. (if you don't like the look of plain washers, you can always, paint, decoupage, etc. the washers).

7. Enjoy your awesome handiwork!
